a story of water

Origins

A life in salt water

For as long as I can remember, the sea has been my playground and my greatest teacher. I grew up with salt water on my skin and a mask on my face.

I am a lifelong sailor and free diver. Many of these paintings began as first hand encounters in the water. Humpbacks in the Philippines. Manta rays gliding past. Whale song carried up through the hull of a boat in the Atlantic. Each encounter leaves something I carry back to the studio.

I work in watercolour and acrylic, beginning with loose washes that move like water, then building the layers until the creature appears, alive with presence.

A creature, a place, a dive of your own, painted to scale for your wall, your boat, your home. Tell me what you met in the water.

Limited edition

Prints

Limited fine art prints for those not ready for a three metre whale. The same depth, at a gentler scale.

Visit

The studio

My studio is in Palma de Mallorca, close to the sea and open by arrangement. If you would like to see a painting in person, write to me and we can find a time. I love showing the work at the scale it was meant to be seen, and talking about the water it came from.

Giving back

Keeping the current flowing

From the very beginning, I chose to put much of what my work earns back into the oceans and communities that gave me so much. I am part of Artists Collective Palma, a group of artists here on the island who come together to raise money for causes close to us.

The ocean has given me everything, my work, my life by the water, and every creature I get to paint. Putting something back is the least I can do.
